Some Lush Storage

Evening Lovelies!

So I was browsing ebay for some sort of storage for my Lush collection, as it was taking up a much needed draw. I was thinking of a glass bowl or maybe some kind of decorate 'platter', but I couldn't find anything that caught my eye.

Then I found myself watching DollyBowBow's room tour video and saw a lovely shabby chic cake stand she used to store bits and bobs. I typed "shabby chic cake stand" into ebay and voila! There it was!

It was priced at £23 including postage and packaging. I would have liked it to be a bit cheaper, but hey ho!

I love it so much! And it's perfect for all my lovely Lush goodies.

It's gonna be a Lush Christmas!

Hey lovelies!

Okay, so i know it's not quite Christmas yet, but i'm one of those annoying festive people who believes the earlier Christmas starts, the better! And nothing says Christmas like a big batch of Lush goodies! :)

I popped into Lush in Manchester and managed to leave with all but one of the Christmas items. The exception was Buche de Noel, a face cleanser that isn't the most attractive of items, and as i don't see the point in spending £7 on a product that does the same as a good ol' simple face wipe, i passed.

So let's get cracking shall we?

1. Lil Lush Pud

Smaller than before, but still packing a punch fragrance wise. I've never been able to put my finger on exactly what this ballistic smells like, i'd say it's a typical "lush smell", not exactly helpful but it's been around so long i dare you to find someone who hasn't used it already any way!

2. Bearded Lady Bubble Bar

My first reaction to this attractive woman was "it looks like someones sat on one of the valentines mushrooms!" I haven't tried it yet, but it has a spicey smell; think cinnamon and brandy

3. Candy Cane Bubble Bar

Pretty much a doppelganger of the comforter, and just as delicious smelling! It's really sweet smelling, like candy and leaves skin super soft. A definite fave!

4. Sugar Plum Fairy

I've not exactly had the best of experiences with Lush sugar scrubs, but this one has changed my mind completely. Left my skin smelling so sweet and soft and no scratches, a plus!

5. Cinders Ballistic

My all time favourite ballistic! It has a really spicey, cinnamon smell and has little pop rocks on the top so when it's dropped in the bath, they crackle like cinders on a fire.

6. The Boog Ballistic

I've not tried this one yet, and again it's one of those smells i can't quite put my finger on. There are little bits of colour on the back that are suppose to resemble fireworks (type The Boog festival into google and you'll get it!)

7. Gingerbread House Bubble Bar

I love this so much i've already bought 5 more! Apart from being the cutest darned thing you've ever seen, it smells incredable.

8. Lip Dip

Have to say i've been really disappointed with this. Really fiddely and no pay off, give this one a miss

9. Manderin's Tea Party Soap

A lot of the products this Christmas seem to be citrus based, but if im honestly Christmas and oranges aren't a connection i tend to make. Again, i haven't used this yet, but i bet it'll be good to wake you up on a cold winter morning.

10. Satsumo Santa Ballistic

Another orangey/satsuma smell. I tried this one night thinking it'll wake me up rather than make me ready for bed, but the smell isn't overwhelming and i actually quite liked it.

11. Glogg

Love, love, love this! Reperchased a huge bottle before i was anywhere near finishing it. When you smell it in the bottle it smells of Cola bottles, but when you use it in the shower it smells like mulled wine. Gorgeous!

12. Snow Fairy

You would have to have been living under a lush rock not to know of how amazing this product is! Still to come across someone who dislikes it, smells incredabley sweet and bubblegummy

13. Snow Globe Soap

In the shop, this is shaped like a giant snow globe. I love the colour (not that it makes a difference really!) and it has a subtle fresh smell of lemon and grapefruit.

14. Snow Cake Soap

My all time favourite soap. It's so creamy and luxurious, leaving skin super soft. Smells of almonds, yummy!

15. Angel's Delight Soap

Another soap that makes me hate Lush for only having it out at Christmas. Smells of jelly babies and sweeties.

16. Once a Year Massage Bar

This is the only massage bar in the collection, and i've never used one before. It took me a while to get use to how oily and greasy they are, but the pay off is incredabley smooth, soft skin. Smells of brandy and cinnamon.

17. So White Ballistic

Being an apple addict, i love this ballistic! Think granny smiths. Plus, this was one of the only ballistics that i noticed had deffinitely moisterised my skin.

18. Winter Bath Ballistic

I haven't used this ballistic yet as i'm not 100% won over with the smell. It's based on Japanese bath traditions that are suppose to awaken sluggish skin. It has more of a herby smell, ginger, lemon grass and clove.

19. Christmas Eve Bubble Bar

Again, i haven't used this yet but i can't wait to because the smell is amazing. It smells of ylang ylang and jasmine, a real get you ready for bed scent!

20. Snow Fairy Lip Tint

Another thing i've had to reperchase 1.) because i love it 2.) it seems to run out a lot quicker than the lip balms. As the name suggests, it smells like snow fairy shower gel

21. Maple Tafy Lip Balm

This goes everywhere with me! Lovely syrupy smell and seriously works. My only dig at this product is it takes a lot of finger rubbing to pick up very little product.

22. (not in the picture as it was in the fridge!) Iced Wine Shower Jelly

These are the strangest things, but i love them. It has a citrusy smell again, grapefruit and orange. If you haven't tried a shower jelly before, i really recommend them.

All in all, i spent around £75-80. Not too bad considering i got 22 products and three free fresh face masks (try saying that realy quickly haha). Have any of you tried out the Christmas stuff yet? What do you guys think?

Review: Lush Magic Mushroom bubble bar + Ex Factor ballistic

I popped into Lush in Preston on Monday, hoping to get my mitts on some reduced Valentines gift boxes, the "?" one in particular!

My stratergy with Lush now is wait till after the celerbratory day in question has gone (Valentines in this case) and then get the gift boxes for much cheaper - how stingy am i? haha

Unfortunately my master plan was foiled, there were no "?" boxes left and the only two items i managed to pick up were at usual prices. But considering these are the only two items out of the lot that i hadn't tried, i'm not really fussed.

Both items are limited addition, which usually means i fall in love with them instantly and have to mope about the fact i'll have to wait a whole year to get my hands one them again!

First off... Magic Mushroom Bubble Bar

Think Yummy Yummy Yummy mixed with vanilla, mmmm! This smells truely amazing and turns the water a gorgeous ruby red. The smell isn't over powering like some Lush products but does leave a lingering hint of vanilla on your skin.

The shape is so cute! but you'd be lucky to find a perfect shape as they're all a bit odd and squished but hey, it's going in the bath so who cares?

Left my skin feeling oh so soft and smelling amazing. Love, love, love this product!

RRP: 2.25

Next up... Ex Factor Ballistic

The only ex i'd love to have around! This guy is by far the cutest product Lush has ever made, and he doesn't disappoint.

Although i love the creamy bubbles of the bubble bars, theres still nothing like watching a ballistic fizzle up in the bath! You don't need much of this guy, an arm and a leg and perhaps his head, or you could just throw him in the deep end like i did and watch him fizzle out in all his glory.

Turned my bath water a gorgeous deep blue and left my skin lovely and soft and smelling just as sweet.

RRP: £1.95

All in all i loved both of these products and i wish wish wish that they were continued products. Why do you do this to us Lush? To hell with this limited edition stuff, i want these products on tap!

Product recycling?

So if you read my last product bashing post, you'll already know what i think of LUSH's green sugar scrub!

It's way too abrasive from me to use on its own, but i was informed by the lovely Martha of how to get the most out of the product, with out any physical damage!

things you will need:

an empty pot of some kind (not too small)
sugar scrub
your choice of shower gel - happy hippy in my case

Crumble up the sugar scrub into the pot. Works better if yours isn't slighty wet like mine was!

Squeeze in your chosen shower gel. Dont go over board though! Other wise the end product will be too runny and the sugar particles will be too far spread.

Give it a good ol' mix! It will bubble a bit but hey, it's shower gel, what do you expect?

and there you have it :) one less product to go in the bin!

Review: LUSH green sugar scrub

I'm very sad to say - LUSH, i've got a bone to pick with you!

I got this product in the "seasons greeting" gift i bought in my new years day haul. It's bascially LUSH's take on a body scrub, and since LUSH products never seem to disappoint me (except maybe scent wise!) i had high expectations.

Sunday night is my pamper night, and pamper night always includes a good scrub! At the moment my go to scrub is Soap & Glorys Sugar Crush body scrub, but i'm always eager to try out new products so tonight i let LUSH's scrub take center stage.

The directions say to not put it in direct contact with the shower water, other wise the product will disappear before your eyes! Just "scrub, scrub, scrub and rise away" were the instructions so i got on scrubbing.

and oh... my... god... did it hurt!

I've never been one to shy away from really gritty scrubs, but this product takes it to a whole new level! I'd like to bring to your attention Subject A...

My poor scratched up arm! :(

I don't really think i need to say much more, the picture pretty much sums up my review.

But i was so shocked by the result i took to LUSH's website to check other peoples reviews, thinking i might have just been given a dodgey one. Here are some reviews from other LUSH customers...

"I am a big fan of lush and own many products. Sadly this one also left me with scratches on my skin and also feeling quite sore with my skin irritated. I will try again with a small piece removed and crumbled to see if that works better"

"I hated this product!! It smelled lovely, but it was so painful! I was left with scratches all over my arms and legs. Beware if you have sensitive skin!! "

"I love the smell and I love the idea - but when I make my own body scrubs I use soft brown sugar because it scrubs without scratching the skin so much as to draw blood....this product could be so good if the sugar were of a more suitable type - but as my leg was left bleeding and I didn't dare try it anywhere more delicate I have to give it the lowest rating I can I'm afraid"

"I really wanted to like this product after reading some of the good reports on here, but it is very much not for me. I am covered in scratches from it, some of which are quite deep and sore, I didn't even 'scrub' that hard! Shame as I really wanted to like this product! It also means I can't wear my dress tonight and have to cover up instead, so I am doubly gutted! "

Don't get me wrong - i love LUSH and almost all their products i've tried, and i hate that this review sounds more like a bashing session, but i really can't stress how much i dislike this product.

Have any of you tried this product or the sugar babe scrub? If so how did you get on with it?

New years day haul!

Over christmas i came up with an idea, what if i raided the sales on new years day? Everyone else would be either still drunk or have a hang over and i'd have the trafford centre all to myself! haha

Turns out i wasn't the only one who had this idea, as the trafford centre was packed as usual! But i still managed to pick up some bargains :)

First off i popped into LUSH. I got three gifts, two of which were marked down christmas ones and one was a full priced, non christmas gift with some of my favs in....

Ice blue soap

Mr Butterball bath ballistic

Cinders bath ballistic

Happy Hippy showel gel

Father frost soap

Strawberry santa shower jelly

Sugar scrub

Happy hippy shower gel

Up you gets emotibomb

Sandstone soap

+ 2 x 10% off vouchers and a £5 off voucher with the gifts

total price = £24.14

bargain!

Next up was the Body Shop, and with body butter at £5 i couldn't resist getting more than one!

They also had an offer for any two big bottles of shampoo for £12, i've never tried Body Shop shampoos so i thought i'd give them ago.

and last but not least, a mattifying day cream from the sea weed/oily combination range. I was impressed by their tea tree blemish fading night lotion so decided to invest in one of their day creams.

Raspberry body butter

Blueberry body butter

Peach Body butter

Nettle oil balancing shampoo

Olive glossing shampoo

Sea weed mattifying day cream

Total price (including 10% off and an extra £5 off with my Love Your Body card) = £27

Note: Love Your Body cards are a great investment (if you like the body shop that is!) You pay an annual membership fee of £5 for the card, and with the card you get...

. 10% off ALL purchases for a year.

. £5 off in your birthday month

. £5 off on your 4th stamp on the card (you can only get stamps with store perchases)

. £10 off on your 8th stamp

. invitations to exclusive member events

. exclusive offers

. updates on product launches and offers

Over all, i'd say that was a good haul :)

i'll probably do reviews on the LUSH stuff soon, as there is a lot to get through!

REVIEW: my LUSH haul!

Last week i did a LUSH haul and got a load of stuff. So now i've tried and tested them all i thought i'd do a little review on each product :)

Snow cake soap

Not my favourite scent, but left my skin feeling amazing! Some of the lush soaps i've used i found quite drying but this an exception. I was so annoyed when i found out it was a christmas soap. I'm gonna go back and stock up on this one for sure!

Angel delight soap

Looks great, smells great! This is one of my favourites just purely because of the smell, and it's also another christmas soap (damn you LUSH!). It smells fruity and sweet and has little sequin stars in for an added bit of sparkle!

God mother soap

As i said in my video, smells like vimto! Isn't that a good enough reason to love it? Add in the fact that it leaves my skin feeling soft and smelling great it became an instant favourite!

Love soap

This was a freebie i got for spending a certain amount of money. I didn't like the smell of this soap at all. It smelt weird, thats the only way i can describe it! It also left glitter all over the bottom of the shower, which is fine if you like standing there with the shower head trying to wash it down the plug hole!

Mask of magnaminty

Hate the smell! But love what it does for my skin. When you put it on it starts to tingle and after a while the tingling gets to a point where it feels a bit like burning. When i washed it off i could tell the difference it had made. My pores were smaller and my skin just felt thoroughly cleansed.

BIG shampoo

I was suprised by this shampoo. It starts off as a mush of salt grains and shampoo but when you put it on wet hair the salt disolves and you get a seriously lathered shampoo! My hair was deffinately bouncier and had more volume after using this.

Godiva solid shampoo and conditioning bar

I don't have much to say about this after my rant a few posts back! Turned into my favourite shampoo ever :)

Jungle solid conditioner

Maybe i was using it wrong or maybe it just really was as rubbish as i thought! Rubbed and rubbed against my hair but didn't do anything. Waste of money.

Sex in the shower emotibomb

Makes the most heavenly shower ever! Smells musky and masculin, a bit like mens after shave! I honestly didn't want to get out of the shower!

...and finally Fair trade foot lotion

In pictures, this bright pink foot lotion looks quite thick but the reality is its watery and didn't really make that much of a difference to my feet. Think i'll be sticking to the body shop body butters!

PRODUCT RANT!: LUSH Godiva solid shampoo

I'm in love!

I've only had this little wonder 5 days and it's fast becoming my favourite shampoo ever!

To start with it's a solid shampoo, easier, small and lighter to haul back and forth to my boyfriends every weekend and perfect for holidays. Its jasmine scent is amazing and lingers in your hair all day. It contains shea butter so it leaves your hair feeling so soft but skweeky clean! My hair looks in so much better conditon and it's all thanks to this little yellow bar.

I love it when i find things that really work :) I would seriously recommend this if you haven't already tried it or have never tried a solid shampoo before, it might just suprise you!

My first LUSH encounter!

Like many people, i walk past LUSH almost every time i go shopping and am enticed by the smell. But i go in and have no idea what anything is! Theres people everywhere coz it's always super busy and if i stay in too long and the smell gives me a head ache.

For those reasons i've always stayed clear of LUSH, that and i'm unfortunate enough to have a perfume allergy and assumed that no smell that strong could be natural! But after doing my research i found most of the ingrediants are natural so i decided to give LUSH a go.

Rather than go into the store and spend loads of money on things i don't know i'll like, i headed over to ebay where you can pick up 15 random samples for 7 pounds, thats with postage and packaging!

I think this is a good bargain. and because they're random samples, you get to try things you might not pick up in the store. I received mine today :)! and heres what i got....

Soap
sand stone
ice blue
honey i washed the kids
angel delight (i tried to find this on the website to see what the full size looks like but it's not on there :s)
vanilla in the mist

Bubble Bars
the comforter
blue skies and fluffy white clouds
gold star

Ballistics
jingle spells
supernova
lush pud

something that could be either a bubble bar or a ballistic but wasn't labeled! i'll probably use it as a bubble bar and see whether it bubbles or not, then i'll know.

Massage Bar
strawberry feels forever

Body Lotion
dream cream

I can't wait to get trying them! They all smell so amazing! They were delivered when i was at college and my mum had put the package in my room, so when i got home my room smelled so gorgeous.

I'll let you know how i get on and also try to find out what the mysterious unnamed sample is :)
